About

Our Club

The Brushpoppers Motorcycle Club was established by a small group of like minded motorcycle enthusiasts from the Morrison Illinois area in 1969. A charter member of the American Motorcyclist Association and the AMA District 17 Club Council ever since, the groups focus then and still today is to promote motorcycle events, awareness and support local community organizations.

The clubs early days were popular for sponsoring off road racing events such as dirt track scrambles and enduro’s. Over the years Brushpopper AMA sanctioned events have covered many disciplines of off road motorcycling such as Hare Scrambles, Half Mile Dirt Track, Motocross, Enduro, Trials and the occasional Poker Run. The club also organized a qualifying event for the International Six Days Enduro as well as two National Enduro events.

Over time the groups focus has tried to keep pace of evolution within the motorcycling community as well as demographic and geographic change. Change in the landscape surrounding the club has required a shift away from competition events to more of a recreational focus. While many club members continue to race off road events, club sponsored meets have gravitated to focus more on the “fun” factor as opposed to “fast”.

The club continues to sponsor an AMA Dual Sport event every year that features an enjoyable mix of off road challenges but maintains the street legalities that allow participants to safely travel between obstacles. This event has been the financial generator for the clubs generosity to local service organizations such as law and fire protection, medical groups and food pantry’s.

The club tries to support other motorcycling organizations by attending their events and also has informal club gatherings for local dual sport and adventure rides, off road rides as well as trips to other riding areas such as Michigan, Missouri, Wisconsin, the California desert, Colorado and Utah. The club has regular meetings on selected Thursday evenings at Mad Jacks Motorcycles in Sterling Illinois.
