Past Bitter End Memories

MOAB Trip 2014

Don’t just dream it, ride it we said. A small group of club members braved the monotony of Interstate 80 in mid March to explore the canyons and crevasses of Moab Utah. Four days of off road chaos on such iconic trails as Slick Rock, Fins and Things, Sovereign Loops, Poison Spider, Gold Bar Rim, Metal Masher and Porcupine Rim. Turns out things named porcupine in Utah are neither pine nor pork. We spent the last day with a lunch at the breathtaking vista at the Top of the World trail. Sore, fatigued and complete with mangled bikes and roached tires we returned in an ice storm with some epic memories and unfinished business on that Sovereign loop.

June Adventure Ride  2014

Motorcycling has many famous destinations but too many of us have time, family and budget restraints preventing the experience. But if you just take a look out your back door and dial down your expectations there can be some discoveries to be had. For the record you are not going to find the good stuff from the main highway. One has to take the route less travelled. That’s the whole idea behind the club’s annual adventure ride. We have some generous friends about the area that let us ride on their private property and a GPS track is generated connecting these pieces. The track always includes unmaintained roads, twisty pavement with lots of elevation changes, lonely narrow tree lined gravel roads and great scenery.  Regional treasures along the way this year included battlefield monuments, rural oddities, a very tall waterfall, lunch at a former railroad depot, old bridges, an abandoned railroad tunnel, lakes, rivers, flora, fauna and some interesting people along the way.  It was too much fun not to share so follow this link to see what it was all about.

Pam Bush Memorial Fun Ride 2014

The first annual Pam Bush Memorial Ride was a gorgeous day of riding to celebrate the life of a beautiful person. Pam was a long time supporter of outdoor recreation & our sport, specifically. She unfortunately left the world prematurely on April 28, 2013 after a long battle with ovarian cancer. The Bush's will always be in our hearts, and we were honored to support such a great cause. All of the money raised from the ride went to benefit Make Teal Real. It is a local non profit organization that raises money for Ovarian Cancer Awareness in the Sauk Valley and surrounding areas.
